As we pulled in to the driveway I have to say I was a little bit disappointed. The building was a little bit falling down and there were half finished projects everywhere, but as we entered the main building I new I was going to like it. We got a small tour of the building and went outside. The first green roof we looked at was cool but it didn’t serve a purpose. We walked around a little and looked at some of the cabins that were built at part of classes. All the buildings had this whimsical look about them, with the curvy roof lines and the candle holders built into the walls. Everything was thought out and neat. At least that’s how it looked. We moved on and saw the second green roof of the day. One over a bread oven. The wood was rotting and grass had taken over the top, but it was still neat. Kate told us a story about when the roof caught on fire and how over the years people had built and re-built the oven. Crunched for time we ran to the cars to drive over to Knoll Farm, a beautiful farm over looking the Mad River Valley and the Green Mountains. It was breath taking. We walked up along a foot path to a woodshed with a perfect green roof. It was neat, pretty, and all to good for a woodshed. I decided that a green roof can really work no matter what. The roof can be engulfed in weeds, or in a place no one can really see it, but still they a nice touch.
Over the last week or so I have noticed that most posts have been about Rick Santorum, but as of yesterday morning it looks as if we all need to find someone new to criticize. On Tuesday morning Rick Santorum suspended his campaign for the Republican Party nomination. Why he did it is a little unclear to me. Some sources say it was because his youngest daughter has trisomey 18 and has been recently hospitalized. But I think it may have more to do with the fact that over the past few weeks people have doubted the seriousness of his campaign. Personally I think it may have something to do with the video “Obamaville” or other youtube clips of “Santorum fails”.
Finally some conclusion on the Treyvon Martin case! George Zimmerman is being charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail. I think it’s good that something has been done, even if it’s not much.
An international convention banning the use of antipersonnel mines has been signed by 159 countries. Syria, the United States and Russia are not signatories.
I’m not to sure how I feel about this…
The issue around the viral video “Kony 2012” is nothing to hit the “like” button about. I would make a bet that most of the people “liking” this video (without knowing all the deatails behind it) think that they are changing the world, and that all anyone has to do to change the world is to hit the “like” button. Now “liking” this video may be a huge step in the way to capturing Joseph Kony, but I believe that before you spread the word about this video you should know everything there is to know about Joseph Kony and the LRA. You don’t sign a paper without reading it first right? So why click “like” without doing your homwork.
